Ernest: A Success Story
Let me tell you about Ernest.
Before Ernest came to The Refuge, he was living by the railroad tracks,
eating out of a dumpster that he shared with a raccoon.
"If it hadn't been for The Refuge, I probably wouldn't be alive," he said.
Ernest is a recovering alcoholic.
With the help of a veterans' program, he now has permanent housing, and together with the friends he made at The Refuge he is making progress.
Ernest is just one of the hundreds who have come through the doors of The Refuge, looking for a safe place to stay and hope for a fresh start.
We are honored to be a part of making a difference
in the lives of these men, women, and children.
And know that there is hope for any homeless person to recover, to find permanent housing, to become independent, and to experience safety, security, and happiness!
