The Refuge Restoration Center is committed to exemplifying and disseminating the love of Jesus Christ to the residents of Lapeer County who are either at risk of or currently facing homelessness. This Privacy Policy outlines how The Refuge collects, uses, and protects the personal information of individuals who engage with our services.

The Refuge collects the following personal information during the intake process:

• Name
• Address
• Phone number
• Occasionally, driver’s license number or Social Security number

Sensitive information such as health and financial details may also be collected to assist guests with applying for public assistance, such as disability, Medicare and food stamps.

The personal information collected by The Refuge is used internally to communicate with participants and provide necessary services. Additionally, The Refuge may send newsletters and fundraising information approximately six times a year and thank you letters to donors for their generous contributions.

The Refuge does not share personal information with third parties. The information collected may be used for internal analytical purposes, but it is not disclosed or sold to any external organizations.

The Refuge employs various security measures to protect personal information, including:

• Access controls
• Firewalls
• Antivirus software

Additionally, all employees undergo annual data protection training to ensure the security of sensitive information.

• Digital Records: Kept indefinitely.
• Paper Records: Destroyed when no longer needed. Paper records are securely destroyed using cross-cut shredding.

Individuals may update their personal information by providing picture identification. To opt out of receiving SMS or email communications, individuals can text STOP to 810-667-3886 or email their request to contact@refugelapeer.org.
